They begin to bloom at the beginning of spring, and so many cultures associate it with the idea of a new beginning.

Tulips are easily adapted to the cold climate and grow from a bulb that produces unique flowering during the year, in early spring. There are tulips of various colors, the result of successive crosses between them. The black tulip still has very dense shades of blue and red.

The handling of the tulip bulb requires excellent care, as it releases a substance that can cause conjunctivitis, rhinitis, and asthma attacks.

The tulip originates from Turkey. It was taken to Holland in the 16th century by botanist Conrad Von Gesner. The cultivation of the bulb was easy to adapt, and the tulip became the fourth most significant source of income in the country.

The tulip is the symbol of Holland. It is grown in extensive gardens, which spend most of the year being prepared to be opened in spring. One example is the “Keukenhof” park “the tulip park”, with seven million flowers that form large colorful carpets and are visited by 800,000 people.
