The clownfish or anemonefish (Amphiprioninae) has a striking coloration that varies depending on the species. The base body color can be bright orange, reddish-brown, yellow, black, or pink-brown. These colors can be crossed with one, two, or three stripes.

The clownfish measures only about 11 cm, with the female reaching higher proportions.

For the clownfish in the sea, living near an anemone is not only convenient, but it is also vital. If it did not have its protection, it could be easy prey for hungry predators, as it is not a very good swimmer.

Thus this small fish can live for about ten years because it makes the anemone it’s center of operations and its refuge.

Clownfish are distributed along the coasts and on coral reefs in the Pacific Ocean and part of the Indian Ocean. It chooses to live in warm waters and shallow beaches.

They are omnivorous fish as they feed on plants such as algae, bacteria, and tentacles of anemones and other animals. Mollusks, crustaceans, and zooplankton complement Their diet.

Clownfish are oviparous from external fertilization. These small fish are very organized since, in advance, they carry out a meticulous cleaning of the place where the female will place her eggs.

When the time comes to lay, the clownfish adopts a somewhat aggressive attitude to guard against any predator.

The number of eggs is high and reaches hundreds, although the male after the female lays the eggs, flaps them to oxygenate the eggs and separate and eliminate those that are in poor condition.
