Soon he befriends Tamburino, an energetic bunny who teaches him how to walk and talk. This is his name because he has the habit of drumming on the ground with his paw.

Other friends are Flower, a puppy skunk, so-called because Bambi initially mistook him for a flower; Faline, a fawn in love with Bambi who gives birth to twins at the end of the film; Friend Owl, the wise owl, a friend of all the animals in the forest.

During Bambi’s first winter, her mother is shot and killed by a deer hunter while trying to help her son find food. Leaving the little deer sad and alone, the father, the Great Prince of the forest, enters the scene and will help him during the forest fire and at the end of the film gives him his place as Great Prince: it will be Bambi who will watch over the forest and protect the animals from the dangers of man.
