One day, she witnesses the shipwreck of a ship and saves the life of a young boy, Prince Eric. Both two immediately love, but the prince remembers only the musical sound of his voice.
Ariel Determined to become human to return to the saved boy. The mermaid turns to Ursula, a sea witch who wants revenge on Triton because she is exiled from the palace.
Ursula enters into a contract with Ariel telling her that, in exchange for her voice, she will make her human for three days; if she manages to get kissed by the prince within the time limit, she will become human.
Ariel does not know, however, that otherwise, she will forever be a lost soul under Ursula’s control.
When Ariel arrives at the castle, she did not recognize by the prince. The prince welcomes her and forms a strong bond with her, without ever kissing her.
Ursula also intervenes and turns into a beautiful girl with Ariel’s voice to induce the prince to marry her and not the mermaid, but the plan is foiled. However, the third day expires, and Ariel returns as a mermaid.
Triton, in the meantime, having learned of the danger his daughter is in, offers herself in his place, leaving her kingdom to Ursula; she tries to kill Ariel and Eric with Triton’s trident, but in the fight she dies herself, thus freeing Triton from her spell.
The king, now convinced of the love between Ariel and Eric, decides to give the little mermaid two human legs to crown her dream; Ariel and Eric get married on a ship in the presence of the whole kingdom of the sea.
