The film is the version of the children’s fairy tale “Aladdin and the Magic Lamp” taken from the book “The Thousand and One Nights”, but as in all Disney’s versions, the narrative structure and the characters’ characteristics have been overturned.
The main protagonist is Aladdin, a boy who, to make a living, resorts to petty thefts in the market of the city of Agrabah, together with his inseparable monkey Abu. Aladdin from the walls of his poor house, every day he looks at the Sultan’s luxurious palace and dreams of one day meeting the beautiful Princess Jasmine.
Meanwhile, the Sultan’s daughter does not decide to get married, despite being courted by the richest princes of the East.
The Sultan, a funny and good-looking little man, is desperate for his daughter because, according to tradition, she will have to marry a prince for her birthday in three days.
For her part, Jasmine, always accompanied by her tiger Rajah, dreams of meeting a young man with a pure heart, who does not flaunt material wealth, but generosity of spirit.
The Sultan asks for help from his advisor Jafar, an evil individual who keeps the Sultan in check, subjugating him with hypnosis, and in exchange for his collaboration, he gets the precious blue ring as a present.
In the meantime, Jasmine escapes from the palace, to sneak among the people of the village into the market. Here she is seen by Aladdin, who is enchanted by that beautiful vision.
Jasmine wants to buy a watermelon, but she doesn’t have the money to pay. At that point, Aladdin intervenes and advises her to pretend to be crazy and escape the wrath of the greengrocer.
In the palace, the diabolical Jafar, always accompanied by his parrot Iago, thanks to the blue ring, will be able to individualize the face of the one who will be destined to enter the Cave of Wonders, where the coveted “Lamp of Genius” resides.
The ring makes Aladdin’s face appear, accompanied by Jasmine, as they watch the sunset. Jafar orders the guards to arrest Aladdin immediately, as he is guilty of attempting to kidnap Jasmine.
